Finally Another Post

I can't believe it's been two months since I've been on here. Life has really gotten in the way...in so many ways. But, I'm back! I think another reason for not posting in so long is that I have TOO many projects going at once.

I bought a few chairs to upcycle. All are for AmyLyn's new apartment. Two kitchen chairs and one livingroom chair. The two kitchen chairs will be painted with milk paint (missmustardseed.com) and the livingroom chair will have a new slipcover made from canvas paint dropcloths (www.pinkandpolkadot.net/2010/02/how-to-make-custom-slipcover.html).

I still have not finished the crate coffee table. I needed Nathan to help me get the crates screwed together...they were not "squared" and the slats were all "wonky". That's finally done. I have all the parts stained and just need to get it all assembled.

I have another crocheted throw in the works. A small shelf and vase in the process of being painted/antiqued, throw in some gardening...and more...it's ridiculous. Add to that a sick family member, birthdays and Easter.

But, I'm not complaining...I am truly blessed. I just wish I could finish ONE thing. Nathan was offering to help me get the table put together today, but, after working in the sun potting some new hydrangeas and blueberry plants...and chasing four dogs (doggie sitting for my son's two little ones, plus my two) I was "pooped".

We had a very nice Easter. An early service, breakfast, egg & scavenger hunt, and then another service. Someone raised their hand during during the closing prayer indicating they accepted Jesus as their Saviour...awesome! Then lunch with the family. God is SO good!

Coffee Table Project

Another day...another project!...I've got a coffee table project in the works. It's not going as fast as I would like, but it's coming along. The project comes from Pinterest...of course! Love me some Pinterest!

Here are photos of where I'm at so far.

This will go to AmyLyn if it turns out okay. I really like the Alice In Wonderland decals, although, I would like them to look a little more faded. I bought the digital designs on Etsy. And printed them on a product called Wood Attitude.
I saw an episode of Home & Family that featured a demonstration of the product applied to many different items.
It's a film. You print your design or photo onto the film. Spray it with an adhesive and then apply to the wood and smooth out the bubbles. If your careful you can pull it up and readjust it. Which I had to do with a couple of them. I did tear one a little, but, was able to press it back down and smooth it out.
The film is available for wood, fabric, scrapbooking and more. I've already got several other projects in mind to make with this product. One is a couple of throw pillows with other Alice In Wonderland designs.

A few more projects

Stuff

It's been a while since my last post. We've been busy with the holidays and family. I haven't worked on any dolls in quite a while and I'm beginning to think this blog will be more about whatever I'm currently working on. I made Hendrix an I spy bag.

Then made my great nephew, Nolen, a blankie. I can't find the picture I took when it was completed, but, you can get an idea of what it looks like.
I'm also learning to put photos on canvas.

I forgot to take a picture of the one I completed and gave to my son-in-law's mother for Christmas. AmyLyn and I made handprint ornaments.

And last, but not least, I'm currently working on making a coffee table from some crates. The instructions for this were found on Pinterest. http://pinterest.com/pin/503277327078192806/.
If it turns out I'll be giving it to AmyLyn and Carlos for their new apartment.

We actually changed our minds on the color of the stain. I found one called "Sunbleached". I'll post more pictures later.

I am totally addicted to Pinterest. I have found way to many recipes to try...things to crochet, knit or sew. The DIY projects seem endless. There's a "Gnome Home" that I'm going to make for Hendrix for his birthday...it's the cutest thing!

We've also started prepping for his party (which is in July!). She's going with Curious George. He is Hendrix's absolute favorite right now. I ordered the cake topper from Krazy Kool Cake Designs on Etsy.

The designer, Laura E. Varela-Wong, has been wonderful to work with. She making us some extra bananas to add to the cake. We're having the party at my sister's house this year. So, no long drives for most of the family...well, except Nathan and I! Between me, AmyLyn and Tami we've got so many ideas floating around in our brains! Most of which I think come from Pinterest!

The sixth of January was the 10th anniversary for our pastor (and my brother-in-law). We gave him a very nice bible (Founder's Bible from Wallbuilders.com), but, we're planning to really celebrate this event on February 3rd...the church's anniversary. I'm thankful for my church, church family and pastor. I'm humbled to be a part of a great group of people. God is good!

Jeremiah 3:15

New International Version (NIV)
15 Then I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will lead you with knowledge and understanding.

He's given us a pastor with a servant's heart and a love for His people.

Henri's Christmas Tree

I'm working on yet another project! I'm attempting to make this felt Christmas tree for Hendrix.

There is no pattern, so I'm winging it. Here's what I have so far...

This is as far as I have gotten. I need to get down stairs and get some house cleaning done, so this is it for today!

Happy Thanksgiving! I am thankful for salvation through Jesus Christ, thankful for my family, for my church. Today I'm especially thankful for Hendrix. I spent time with him and his momma yesterday. Listening to him learning to talk and and play with his kitty cats (Mooshu and Sookie) is so fun to watch. I wish I could do it every day!
