Elliot

Elliot

He's just about finished!...yay!!! Just a little more hair (too flat on top) and some snaps or buttons on his shirt. Oh, and a little blush on his cheeks. Hendrix will be able to get him this weekend when he comes to stay with Papa and Mimi!

Now it's time to get started on making the dolls to sell. I have eight or nine dolls of varying sizes cut out. And bought some cute fabric for little dresses. My sister and I decided to start out with names from the bible for all the "children"...tee hee!

Grandchildren are the crown of the aged, and the glory of children is their fathers. Proverbs 17:6

I never knew how much I would love being a grandmother. Hendrix is truely a blessing from God!

“Only take care, and keep your soul diligently, lest you forget the things that your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life. Make them known to your children and your children's children— Deuteronomy 4:9

Elliot

Elliot

Not the greatest picture, but here he is so far. I haven't been able to work on him again until today. He's got two rows of hair now. I'm not going to show his bald spot!

I really didn't stuff his body enough. I might try to open him up and add some more wool to his chest and tummy.

And this one is just for fun! I couldn't resist Hello Kitty...how old am I??? I really do like the little tennis shoes I found at Target.

I've been busy with other things and haven't been able to sew much. I have two 16" dolls, two 9" dolls and four or five 6" dolls cut out. I also cut out some little pants and a shirt for Elliot. I was hoping to get to some of this today, but had other obligations that had to be taken care of.

Hopefully by the next time I post Elliot will have all of his hair and clothes! Have a good weekend!

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 1 Corinthians 13: 4-7

Be sure to tell your family and friends how much you love and appreciate them today.

New Doll

Hello,

I've been working on a new doll. This one is for Hendrix and his name is Elliot. It's long overdue and I'm still trying to get back into the "doll making groove". I really need practice attaching the head and limbs with nice, even stitches.

I'm using a Waldorf pattern but added 1/2" all the way around the pattern pieces. I wanted a chunkier baby! It's going pretty good, although, I think his belly needed a little more stuffing.

I'm adding pictures to this post. I took some with the altered pattern pieces and as I was cutting out the body fabric. However, I didn't have my camera with me and had to take them with my phone. For some reason I cannot send, receive or remove pictures from my phone right now...ugh! So, here's where I'm at right now.

I'm still trying to decide what hairstyle and clothes to make. I would like for the hair to be as close to Henrdrix's as possible...we'll see! I added a couple of eyelashes since Henri has some dark, full lashes himself.

I bought some cute baby tennis shoes from Target this weekend and I'm thinking about corduroy pants..maybe...or a pair of jeans. Any ideas??

This next doll is one that was made for my great nephew, Nolen, for his first birthday. I actually made one before this one but wasn't really happy with it as a doll for him. To me, it was too skinny and I wanted it to look more like an infant.

Nolen's doll:

First attempt:

I wasn't crazy about the hair and it looked more like a girl. Which, I ended up doing by putting the hair up in pigtails and a girly outfit!!

That's it for today. I hope you all have a good week!
