Stuff

It's been a while since my last post. We've been busy with the holidays and family. I haven't worked on any dolls in quite a while and I'm beginning to think this blog will be more about whatever I'm currently working on. I made Hendrix an I spy bag.

Then made my great nephew, Nolen, a blankie. I can't find the picture I took when it was completed, but, you can get an idea of what it looks like.
I'm also learning to put photos on canvas.

I forgot to take a picture of the one I completed and gave to my son-in-law's mother for Christmas. AmyLyn and I made handprint ornaments.

And last, but not least, I'm currently working on making a coffee table from some crates. The instructions for this were found on Pinterest. http://pinterest.com/pin/503277327078192806/.
If it turns out I'll be giving it to AmyLyn and Carlos for their new apartment.

We actually changed our minds on the color of the stain. I found one called "Sunbleached". I'll post more pictures later.

I am totally addicted to Pinterest. I have found way to many recipes to try...things to crochet, knit or sew. The DIY projects seem endless. There's a "Gnome Home" that I'm going to make for Hendrix for his birthday...it's the cutest thing!

We've also started prepping for his party (which is in July!). She's going with Curious George. He is Hendrix's absolute favorite right now. I ordered the cake topper from Krazy Kool Cake Designs on Etsy.

The designer, Laura E. Varela-Wong, has been wonderful to work with. She making us some extra bananas to add to the cake. We're having the party at my sister's house this year. So, no long drives for most of the family...well, except Nathan and I! Between me, AmyLyn and Tami we've got so many ideas floating around in our brains! Most of which I think come from Pinterest!

The sixth of January was the 10th anniversary for our pastor (and my brother-in-law). We gave him a very nice bible (Founder's Bible from Wallbuilders.com), but, we're planning to really celebrate this event on February 3rd...the church's anniversary. I'm thankful for my church, church family and pastor. I'm humbled to be a part of a great group of people. God is good!

Jeremiah 3:15

New International Version (NIV)
15 Then I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will lead you with knowledge and understanding.

He's given us a pastor with a servant's heart and a love for His people.

Henri's Christmas Tree

I'm working on yet another project! I'm attempting to make this felt Christmas tree for Hendrix.

There is no pattern, so I'm winging it. Here's what I have so far...

This is as far as I have gotten. I need to get down stairs and get some house cleaning done, so this is it for today!

Happy Thanksgiving! I am thankful for salvation through Jesus Christ, thankful for my family, for my church. Today I'm especially thankful for Hendrix. I spent time with him and his momma yesterday. Listening to him learning to talk and and play with his kitty cats (Mooshu and Sookie) is so fun to watch. I wish I could do it every day!

Two Projects Done

Yay!...they're done!

Another Day of Sewing!

This is going "way" too slow for me!...don't know why everything seems to take me so long to complete...lol...I've finished a "teeny baby" and this morning I'm working on the sling for this one. I know I'm supposed to be making them to sell...but I think Hendrix will end up with this one...tee hee...

Also working on some training pants for Hendrix. I had them completed yesterday, but really didn't like the look of the elastic on the waist...so, I took it off and I'm going to get them put back together this afternoon.

I have so much more fabric to make many more. I just want to get the hang of getting these sewn up quicker...I love the monster fabric!

So, on another note, I'm still stuck on Proverbs 3:5...Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding. It seems to be lodged in my brain these days...hmm...think I should really pay attention!

"lean not unto thine own understanding"...to rely on my own intellect and/or experience more than I rely on God. I know He wants me to use my heart and my head, but, I'm limited in my understanding compared to Almighty God. So, I must fully trust in God's wisdom, knowledge, direction for my life...

Slowly But Surely

Slowly But Surely....

I can't believe it's been over 20 days since I last posted something...ugh! I have worked on some dolls, but not a lot of progress...

I think I have four 16" dolls cut out (two sewn together) and six 9" dolls cut out (two sewn together). And, I just got a new pattern for a 19" doll that I'm pretty excited about.

I'm having a hard time focusing on what to work on. I want to make some training pants for Hendrix with this pattern...
(couldn't get a good pic w/o the glare!)

I have made a couple with different patterns, but can't seem to get one that I'm satisified with that fits just right. I'm also working on a couple of throw pillows for my sister. I had to stop midway...I'm actually making new covers for the ones she has. I only brought one home and while taking them apart decided to use the original piping....so, I have to get the other pillow from her to finish.

And finally, AmyLyn and I went to Ikea a couple of weekends ago and got Hendrix some new linens for his toddler bed and furniture for toy storage. We accidentally bought two sets of a duvet cover and pillow case...we meant to get a set of sheets too. So, rather than make the long trip back we decided to turn one set into a sheet for the bed and a valance/curtain for the window.

For some reason I'm feeling a little scattered lately...lol. And the verses from Proverbs 3:5-6 have been on my mind.

5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart
And do not lean on your own understanding.
6 In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He will make your paths straight.

It's such a "well known" passage that most of the time I don't slow down enough to really take it to heart. So, I'm really asking God to "break it down" for me and make it more real to me on a daily basis.

The Hebrew word “batah” has the meaning of “reliance on” with the inner result of a feeling of well-being and security

So, today, I'm going to work on that...meditate on that...fully relying on God!!

Elliot

Elliot

He's just about finished!...yay!!! Just a little more hair (too flat on top) and some snaps or buttons on his shirt. Oh, and a little blush on his cheeks. Hendrix will be able to get him this weekend when he comes to stay with Papa and Mimi!

Now it's time to get started on making the dolls to sell. I have eight or nine dolls of varying sizes cut out. And bought some cute fabric for little dresses. My sister and I decided to start out with names from the bible for all the "children"...tee hee!

Grandchildren are the crown of the aged, and the glory of children is their fathers. Proverbs 17:6

I never knew how much I would love being a grandmother. Hendrix is truely a blessing from God!

“Only take care, and keep your soul diligently, lest you forget the things that your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life. Make them known to your children and your children's children— Deuteronomy 4:9
